Category: Technology: Multicast, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages multicast data replication and distribution parameters on H3C multicast-capable network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-MCDR-MIB?

HH3C-MCDR-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB for managing multicast data replication (MCDR) and per-user multicast accounting on H3C multicast-capable routers and broadband edge devices. It exposes configuration for replication status, reporting interval, cache limits, and record delay/send behavior, plus a table of online multicast user records tracking subscriber interface, VLAN, and joined group address. This MIB is used mainly to monitor the operational and software-configuration status of the multicast accounting/replication subsystem, such as whether hh3cMultCDRStatus shows the feature enabled and functioning and whether the record cache is nearing its configured limit. It is closely tied to standard multicast group-membership mechanisms (IGMP/MLD) since the user records key off joined group addresses, implying dependency on multicast MIBs for group state. Typical deployment is on H3C BRAS/edge routers delivering IPTV or multicast video services to subscribers. Engineers can download the HH3C-MCDR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-MCDR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C multicast-capable edge router/BRAS

Monitoring Examples

An operator can check hh3cMultCDRStatus and hh3cMultCDRCacheLimit to confirm the replication/accounting feature is active and not close to exhausting its record cache, and inspect hh3cMultUserOnlineInfoTable/hh3cMultUserOnlineInfoEntry for hh3cMultUserSubIfIndex, hh3cMultUserVlanID, and hh3cMultUserJoinGAddr to see which subscribers are currently receiving which multicast streams. If hh3cMultCDRRecordSend stalls while hh3cMultCDRReportInterval elapses, that signals accounting records are not being flushed to the collector, an early sign of a reporting pipeline failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • multicast replication status
  • accounting report interval
  • record cache utilization
  • per-subscriber joined multicast group
  • subscriber VLAN and sub-interface
  • record send/delay behavior
