Description: H3C MIB for EPON fiber backup management monitoring redundant optical path failover and protection switching.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-EPON-FB-MIB?

H3C-EPON-FB-MIB manages fiber backup (protection) groups on H3C EPON (Ethernet Passive Optical Network) OLT (Optical Line Terminal) equipment, letting a master fiber/PON port be paired with a slave port for automatic failover. It exposes configuration data — group membership (master/slave port assignment) and row status for creating/deleting a backup group — alongside operational status objects for each port's current active/standby state. Its main hardware-status monitoring value is failover/redundancy health: h3cEponFBMasterPortStatus and h3cEponFBSlavePortStatus reveal which physical port is currently carrying traffic, and h3cEponFBSwitchover shows whether a failover event has occurred, critical for detecting a degraded primary fiber path in an access network. It is a self-contained H3C access-network extension without an explicit stated dependency on external standard MIBs beyond general EPON/OLT interface conventions. It is typically deployed on H3C OLT chassis in EPON-based fiber access networks (FTTH/FTTB) where physical fiber redundancy between OLT and splitter needs to be monitored. Engineers can download the H3C-EPON-FB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-EPON-FB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C EPON OLT (Optical Line Terminal)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll h3cEponFBMIBTable/h3cEponFBMIBEntry indexed by h3cEponFBGroupIndex to check h3cEponFBMasterPortStatus versus h3cEponFBSlavePortStatus, confirming traffic is riding the intended master port. An unexpected h3cEponFBSwitchover event combined with the slave port now showing active status would indicate the master fiber path has failed and the OLT has cut over to its backup port, warranting a field dispatch to repair the primary fiber run.

What Can Be Monitored

  • fiber backup group master/slave assignment
  • master port status
  • slave port status
  • switchover events
  • backup group row status
