What Is HH3C-EOC-COMMON-MIB?

HH3C-EOC-COMMON-MIB is an H3C vendor MIB for managing Ethernet-over-Coax (EOC) access technology on DSLAM/access-node equipment, covering common configuration shared across EFM-PON/HomePlug-AV-based coax access links. It exposes system version information, uplink device identification, client management tables for CPE/CNU authorization, and bandwidth (SLA) configuration limits for downstream/upstream traffic. It supports monitoring both software status (hh3cEOCCommonSysVersion for firmware/software version tracking) and operational/configuration state of client devices, such as which CNUs are authorized to access the network and their allowed bandwidth ranges. It is built on IEEE 802.3ah EFM-PON concepts and the HomePlug AV specification referenced in the module description. Typical deployment is on H3C EOC access nodes/DSLAMs providing Ethernet access to subscribers over existing coaxial cabling. Engineers can download the HH3C-EOC-COMMON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-EOC-COMMON-MIB. Monitoring Examples

An operator would read hh3cEOCCommonSysVersion to confirm firmware version consistency across access nodes, and hh3cEOCCommonUpLinkMacAddress to identify the uplink device. The hh3cEOCCommonCltManTable (hh3cEOCCommonCltManEntry) shows per-client entries including hh3cEOCCommonCltAutoAuthorize and hh3cEOCCommonCltMaxAllowToAccess, letting an admin verify how many CNU clients are authorized versus the configured maximum. Checking hh3cEOCComCnuMaxDownBWMinVal/MaxVal and hh3cEOCComCnuSlaHighPriBWMinVal/MaxVal against actual throughput would reveal whether a subscriber's coax link is being bandwidth-limited as configured or is misconfigured outside the allowed SLA range.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cEOCComUniCurrentSpeed OID:

Select an H3C Ethernet-over-Coax (EOC) access node/DSLAM as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cEOCComUniCurrentSpeed into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports an estimate of the interface's current bandwidth in bits per second. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Gauge32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value drifts significantly from its normal baseline, since an unexpected change often points to a real underlying issue. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
