What Is HH3C-HPEOC-MIB?

HH3C-HPEOC-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB module for managing HomePlug AV-based Ethernet-over-Coax (EOC) broadband access equipment, covering client and CNU (Coax Network Unit) endpoints used in cable/coax last-mile deployments. It exposes configuration data such as VLAN management settings, Ethernet port types, broadcast control, and anonymous-station status, alongside system-level identification fields for connected client units. The MIB is particularly useful for monitoring the operational health and software status of remote EOC endpoints, including client descriptor/system information and firmware version reporting, which lets operators confirm a unit is alive and running expected firmware. It is a vendor-specific extension and does not appear to lean heavily on standard IETF MIBs, instead defining its own EOC-specific object tree. Typical deployment is on H3C broadband access nodes and head-end equipment serving residential or small-business coax/Ethernet bridging, where HH3C-HPEOC-MIB SNMP monitoring supports ongoing visibility into client and CNU endpoint health.

Monitoring Examples

An operator can poll hh3cHPEOCCltSysManTable/hh3cHPEOCCltSysManEntry to retrieve hh3cHPEOCCltDescr and hh3cHPEOCCltFwVersion for each connected client unit, confirming which firmware build is deployed across the access network. The hh3cHPEOCCnuSysManTable exposes hh3cHPEOCCnuBcastControl and hh3cHPEOCCnuAnonymStatus at the CNU (head-end) side, letting an admin verify broadcast suppression settings and detect unauthorized anonymous client attach attempts. hh3cHPEOCCltVlanManTable tracks per-client VLAN type assignments via hh3cHPEOCCltVlanType, so a mismatch here would reveal a misconfigured VLAN tag causing a subscriber to lose connectivity.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cHPEOCFECErrors OID:

Select an H3C broadband access device as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cHPEOCFECErrors into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The cable port's FEC bits errors ratio. FEC means the payload Forward Error Correction. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
