Description: H3C MIB for Ethernet Virtual Connection (EVC) service management in carrier Ethernet network deployments.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-EVC-MIB?
H3C-EVC-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB for managing Ethernet Virtual Connections (EVCs), the Metro Ethernet Forum concept of a logical point-to-point or multipoint Ethernet service instance carried over a provider network. It exposes per-port service instance capability and limits, plus a service instance table keyed by service instance ID, holding encapsulation type/rule and associated S-VLAN ID range for each EVC. This is primarily a service-configuration MIB, letting an administrator verify how many service instances a port supports and whether encapsulation/VLAN mappings are correctly provisioned, which is important for diagnosing Carrier Ethernet service faults. It aligns conceptually with Metro Ethernet Forum EVC concepts though it is an H3C-proprietary implementation with its own object structure rather than a direct IETF standard mapping. It is deployed on H3C carrier/metro Ethernet switches and routers offering Ethernet Virtual Connection services. Engineers can download the H3C-EVC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-EVC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C carrier/metro Ethernet switch
- H3C router
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll h3cEvcSrvInstTable/h3cEvcSrvInstEntry (indexed by h3cEvcSrvInstId) to check h3cEvcSrvInstEncap and the h3cEvcSrvInstSvlanIdListLow/High range, confirming a service instance is correctly mapped to its expected S-VLAN range. h3cEvcPortMaxSrvInstNum tells the operator how many more service instances a given port can still support before hitting the configured limit.
What Can Be Monitored
- service instance encapsulation type
- S-VLAN ID range per service instance
- maximum service instances per port
- service instance row status/provisioning state
