Description: Tracks relationships between physical and logical entities within H3C device hardware inventory.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-ENTRELATION-MIB?

HH3C-ENTRELATION-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB that supplements the standard Entity MIB (RFC 4133/2737) by expressing relationships between physical/logical entities that Entity MIB alone cannot represent, such as stack-port pairs and combo-port pairs on H3C switches. It is a hardware-inventory/topology MIB rather than a performance-counter one, exposing associations between related physical ports or modules. Its monitoring value is understanding the physical hardware layout and detecting configuration issues such as stack-port pairing or combo-port (copper/fiber shared port) mode conflicts, which affect port availability and stack topology, indirectly informing hardware health/status assessments. It explicitly depends on and complements the standard Entity MIB, which its own description states is unsuitable alone for these relations. Typical deployment is on H3C stackable switches or devices with combo (copper/SFP) ports, where HH3C-ENTRELATION-MIB SNMP monitoring clarifies entity relationships beyond what the base Entity MIB can represent.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-ENTRELATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C stackable switch
  • H3C switch with combo (copper/SFP) ports

Monitoring Examples

No specific objects were sampled for this MIB, so exact identifiers can't be cited, but consistent with its purpose an admin would query a stack-port-pair or combo-port-pair relation table (keyed by entPhysicalIndex-style references) to determine which physical port is paired with which in a stack or combo configuration. This would be used to diagnose why a combo port is operating in the wrong (copper vs. fiber) mode or why stack-port pairing appears inconsistent.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack-port pair relationships
  • combo-port pair relationships
  • physical entity relation mapping
