What Is HH3C-DOT11-WM2U-MIB?

HH3C-DOT11-WM2U-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB for the Wireless Multicast-to-Unicast (WM2U) conversion feature, which improves reliability of multicast delivery (e.g., IPTV, video streaming) over WLAN by converting multicast frames into per-client unicast frames. It exposes per-service temporary-state tables tracking multicast service names, address types, and conversion state, address-aging-time configuration for stale entries, and per-client entry-limit tables. This is primarily a software/feature-status MIB: monitoring whether a given multicast service has an active WM2U conversion state, and whether client entry limits are being approached, helps diagnose degraded multicast video quality or dropped conversion sessions in high-density Wi-Fi environments. It builds on the base WLAN multicast handling of the H3C dot11 stack. Typical deployment is on H3C wireless controllers/APs serving multicast video applications to wireless clients. Engineers can download the HH3C-DOT11-WM2U-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-DOT11-WM2U-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C wireless access controller (AC)
  • H3C 802.11 access point (AP)

Monitoring Examples

An admin would check hh3cDot11WM2USrvTempStatesTable (via hh3cDot11WM2USrvTempName/hh3cDot11WM2USrvTempState) to confirm a given multicast service is actively being converted to unicast, and review hh3cDot11WM2UAgingTimeTable for the configured hh3cDot11WM2UAgingTime controlling how long stale client entries persist. If hh3cDot11WM2UClientEtyLmtTable shows the per-client entry limit being reached, that would explain new clients failing to join the multicast-to-unicast stream.

What Can Be Monitored

  • multicast service conversion state
  • service address type
  • aging time for converted entries
  • per-client entry limit/count

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cDot11WM2UDuration OID:

Select an H3C wireless access controller/access point (Multicast-to-Unicast conversion) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cDot11WM2UDuration into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The amount of time that has elapsed since the client was discovered. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a TimeTicks-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is unexpectedly low (e.g. under 10 minutes), since that indicates a recent, possibly unplanned, reboot or restart. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
