Description: Manages the Control Plane of H3C Cloud Unified Platform Management, covering resource allocation and policy distribution.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-CUPM-CP-MIB?

HH3C-CUPM-CP-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com/New H3C) enterprise MIB covering the Control Plane (CP) of the Cloud Unified Platform Management system, used in H3C's data-center and cloud-networking fabric products. It exposes configuration data for virtual network overlays, including VXLAN bridge domains, source/destination address bindings, VPN name associations, and per-VXLAN state, as well as a list/table of Underlay Points (UPs) participating in the control plane. Its monitoring value is largely in confirming the software-defined overlay configuration and operational state -- for instance whether a given VXLAN binding (hh3cCupmCpVbVxlanState) is up, which reflects the health of the control-plane's overlay provisioning rather than raw hardware sensors -- and it defines its own notification objects for control-plane events. It is deployed as part of the broader H3C CUPM MIB family alongside data-plane and forwarding MIBs it coordinates with. Typical deployment context is H3C SDN/cloud fabric controllers and switches managing VXLAN-based virtual networks. Engineers can download the HH3C-CUPM-CP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-CUPM-CP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C Cloud Unified Platform Management (CUPM) switches and controllers
  • H3C SDN/data-center fabric devices

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll hh3cCupmCpVbUpID and hh3cCupmCpVbVxlanID together with hh3cCupmCpVbVxlanState to confirm a given VXLAN binding is active and correctly mapped to its hh3cCupmCpVbSrcAddr/hh3cCupmCpVbDestAddr endpoints and hh3cCupmCpVbVpnName. Cross-checking hh3cCupmUpListTable (via hh3cCupmUpListEntry, indexed by hh3cCupmUpID) against hh3cCupmUpNum would reveal whether an expected underlay point has dropped out of the control plane's tracked list, indicating a control-plane synchronization fault; hh3cCupmCpNotifications would then be the trap channel alerting operators to such state changes.

What Can Be Monitored

  • VXLAN binding state
  • VXLAN source/destination address
  • VPN name association
  • underlay point (UP) list and count
  • control-plane notification events

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cCupmCpProtoTnlState OID:

Select an H3C SDN/data-center fabric switch/controller (CUPM control plane, VXLAN overlay) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cCupmCpProtoTnlState into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The state of VXLAN protocol tunnel. 0 (unknown) The VXLAN protocol tunnel is in unknown state. 1 (up) The VXLAN protocol tunnel is in connected state. 2 (down) The VXLAN protocol tunnel is in disconnected state. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value is anything other than 'up', since that indicates the condition this object reports has changed to one worth investigating. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
