Description: Manages Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) subscriber access sessions, authentication, and service policies on H3C platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-BRAS-ACCESS-MIB?

HH3C-BRAS-ACCESS-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB for Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) platforms, which terminate and authenticate large numbers of subscriber (PPPoE/IPoE) sessions for ISPs. It exposes aggregate and per-unit-processor subscriber counts broken down by access type (PPPoE, IPoE, L2TP LNS/LAC) and IP version (IPv4/IPv6), plus dial-subscriber counts, and includes trap objects for capacity/utilization events. This is fundamentally a performance/capacity and service-status MIB: it lets operators monitor how many subscribers are currently online per access method and per line/unit-processor board, revealing overload conditions, failed sign-ons, or an access-type distribution shift, functioning as a software/service health indicator rather than raw hardware sensors. As a BRAS/AAA feature, it complements standard AAA/PPP MIBs and vendor RADIUS integration rather than replacing them. Typical deployment is on H3C BRAS/edge routers in ISP networks aggregating residential or business broadband subscribers. Engineers can download the HH3C-BRAS-ACCESS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-BRAS-ACCESS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C BRAS (Broadband Remote Access Server)
  • H3C edge/aggregation router

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll hh3cBrasAccTotalUserNum alongside hh3cBrasAccTotalPPPoEUserNum, hh3cBrasAccTotalIPoEUserNum, and hh3cBrasAccTotalLNSUserNum to track subscriber mix and total load, and check hh3cBrasAccUPStatTable (via hh3cBrasAccUPID/hh3cBrasAccUPUserNum) for per-unit-processor session counts. A sudden drop in hh3cBrasAccTotalUserNum or an imbalance across UP entries would signal a card failure or mass session drop, while the hh3cBrasAccCUTrap notification would alert on such threshold-crossing events.

What Can Be Monitored

  • total subscriber user count
  • PPPoE user count
  • IPoE user count
  • LNS/LAC user count
  • IPv4/IPv6 user count
  • per-unit-processor user count
