Category: Domain: Security, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: Manages Access Control List (ACL) rules, groups, and statistics on H3C network devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-ACL-MIB?

HH3C-ACL-MIB is an H3C enterprise MIB for managing Access Control List (ACL) rules, groups, and statistics on H3C switches and routers. Based on its name and short description it exposes ACL rule/group configuration objects and match/hit counters used to filter and track traffic. In monitoring terms it would primarily be used to verify configuration state and traffic-filtering statistics rather than hardware health, since ACLs are a software security feature rather than a physical component. It is vendor-specific to H3C and complements, rather than replaces, the IETF standard interface and traffic-filtering objects typically used alongside it. It is deployed on H3C Comware switches/routers in enterprise networks where administrators need to verify ACL policy enforcement and audit matched security-rule traffic. No concrete object names were provided in the source data for this module, so specifics beyond the stated purpose cannot be confirmed, though administrators can still perform an HH3C-ACL-MIB download to inspect the definitions directly.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-ACL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switches and routers

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were provided for this module, so a concrete polling scenario naming real table/object names cannot be constructed. Based on the module's stated purpose, an admin would typically poll ACL rule and group tables for match/hit counters to confirm a security policy is being enforced as expected; this should be treated as inferred rather than verified against the actual MIB structure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ACL rule configuration state
  • ACL group membership
  • ACL rule match/hit counters

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cAclBasicCount OID:

Select an H3C Comware switch/router (Access Control Lists) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cAclBasicCount into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The count of matched by basic rule. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
