Category: DSL and Broadband
Description: Manages HDSL 721T2 modem units, providing loop performance, alarm, and configuration objects for DSL access.

What Is HDSL721T2-MIB?
HDSL721T2-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from General DataComm (GDC) that models a subset of the broader GDCHDSL-MIB scoped to the 721T2 HDSL modem product. It defines a single versioning scalar (gdc721T2SystemMIBversion) and a tree of OBJECT IDENTIFIER alarm points under hdsl721T2Alarms — covering no-response, diagnostic-receive-error, power-up, unit-failure, and checksum-corruption conditions, plus line-level alarms for loss of signal, loss of sync word, out-of-frame, all-ones (AIS), remote alarm indication, unavailable/errored seconds, and major/minor bit-error-rate thresholds. Because the alarm nodes are bare OBJECT IDENTIFIERs rather than polled OBJECT-TYPE counters, this MIB is primarily consumed as a set of trap/alarm identifiers rather than a table of gettable performance data. It is useful for correlating HDSL line-quality events (signal loss, BER threshold crossings) with modem hardware faults on DSL access circuits. It is deployed on GDC 721T2 HDSL modem units providing DSL access, and the HDSL721T2-MIB MIB is what an administrator loads to decode these alarm OIDs in a network management system.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HDSL721T2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- GDC (General DataComm) HDSL 721T2 modem
Monitoring Examples
An operator watches for the hdsl721T2LossofSignal and hdsl721T2MajorBER alarm identifiers being raised against a given modem; a major-BER alarm accompanied by an unavailable-seconds indication would point to a degrading HDSL loop that is close to dropping the circuit.
What Can Be Monitored
- MIB version identifier
- no-response/power-up/unit-failure alarm indicators
- loss-of-signal and loss-of-sync-word alarms
- errored/unavailable seconds counters
- major/minor bit-error-rate alarms
