Description: Manages HDSL2 line profile configuration and operational parameters on Ascend DSL equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MIBHDSL2-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBHDSL2-MIB is a proprietary Ascend MIB for managing HDSL2 line profile configuration and operational parameters on DSL access equipment. It exposes per-line configuration profiles along with operational status such as line rate, signal quality, and error conditions on the copper loop. Its monitoring emphasis is on physical-line health: HDSL2 loop status and error-second counters let operators detect a degrading copper pair, noise, or provisioning mismatch before it causes a customer-facing outage. It aligns with the general family of DSL physical-layer MIBs (similar in spirit to HDSL2/SHDSL MIB standards) with Ascend-specific extensions. It was deployed on Ascend DSL access multiplexers/routers delivering HDSL2 circuits to business customers, and technicians can still get an ASCEND-MIBHDSL2-MIB download to load these objects into legacy MIB browsers.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBHDSL2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend DSL access equipment (HDSL2 line cards/multiplexers)
Monitoring Examples
An operator checks the HDSL2 line profile and current operational status for a subscriber loop, looking at the negotiated line rate and any reported error seconds or loop-status alarms. A loop reporting degraded signal quality or a rising error-second count indicates copper-pair noise or a wiring fault that will eventually drop the circuit. Comparing the configured line profile to the actual negotiated rate also reveals provisioning mismatches on a newly installed line.
What Can Be Monitored
- HDSL2 line rate
- loop/signal status
- error-second counters
- line profile configuration
