Description: H3C MIB for Routing Control Protocol (RCP) managing centralized routing policy distribution to network devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-RCP-MIB?
H3C-RCP-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com) enterprise MIB for managing the Routing Control Protocol (RCP) server, a mechanism used to centrally distribute routing policy rules to network devices. It belongs to the routing/policy-control technology area and exposes both configuration data (server enable status, connection and rule timeouts, maximum connections, balance-group ID ranges) and live operational counters (current connection count, total users, total client IPs). Its monitoring value lies in tracking the software-service health of the RCP server process itself — verifying the server is enabled, watching current connections against the configured maximum to detect saturation, and tracking total connected users/client IPs to spot unusual load or a potential client flood. It is a self-contained H3C proprietary protocol MIB with no stated dependency on external IETF routing standards. Typical deployment context is H3C routers acting as centralized policy-distribution servers within an SDN-like or centrally managed routing domain. Engineers can download the H3C-RCP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-RCP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C router acting as RCP policy server
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls h3cRCPServerEnableStatus to confirm the RCP server is running, then compares h3cRCPServerCurConn against h3cRCPServerMaxConn to see how close the server is to its connection ceiling. Rising h3cRCPTotalUsers and h3cRCPTotalClientIPs alongside connections nearing h3cRCPServerMaxConnMaxValue would indicate the server is approaching capacity and may need retuning of h3cRCPConnTimeout or h3cRCPRuleTimeout to free up stale sessions.
What Can Be Monitored
- RCP server enable status
- current vs. max connections
- total connected users
- total client IPs
- connection and rule timeout settings
