Description: Hitachi Disk Family (DF) RAID LAN MIB for managing Hitachi RAID storage arrays accessed over the network.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Hitachi-DF-RAID-LAN-MIB?

Hitachi-DF-RAID-LAN-MIB is a Hitachi private MIB for the Hitachi Disk Family (DF) RAID storage array line, exposing system identity, health, and per-LUN command statistics over the array's LAN management interface. Identity objects (dfSystemProductName, dfSystemMicroRevision, dfSystemSerialNumber) sit alongside dfRegressionStatus, a bitmask covering the health of drives, spare drives, data drives, ENC (enclosure), other-controller, UPS, loop, path, NAS server/path/UPS, battery, power supply, AC input, backup unit, fan, and cache memory — each bit clear when normal and set when abnormal — plus dfPreventiveMaintenanceInformation for proactive maintenance flags. The dfCommandTable, indexed by logical unit number (dfLun), reports per-LUN dfReadCommandNumber/dfReadHitNumber/dfReadHitRate and dfWriteCommandNumber/dfWriteHitNumber/dfWriteHitRate, giving insight into cache effectiveness for read and write I/O. It depends only on legacy RFC1155-SMI/RFC-1212/RFC-1215 constructs for its type system, and is deployed on Hitachi DF disk array controllers in SAN/NAS storage environments, as documented in the Hitachi-DF-RAID-LAN-MIB MIB.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Hitachi-DF-RAID-LAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Hitachi DF (Disk Family) RAID storage arrays

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls dfRegressionStatus periodically to confirm all health bits remain clear, and tracks dfReadHitRate/dfWriteHitRate per LUN in dfCommandTable to gauge cache efficiency; a regression-status bit flipping to 1 for battery or power-supply status combined with a dropping write hit rate on a given LUN would point to a failing power component degrading cache-backed write performance.

What Can Be Monitored

  • system regression/health status bitmask
  • preventive maintenance information flags
  • per-LUN read command count and hit rate
  • per-LUN write command count and hit rate
  • system product name/serial/firmware revision
