What Is InternetServer-MIB?

InternetServer-MIB is a Microsoft-originated MIB module that establishes the SNMP OID registration point for Microsoft's Internet Server product line (historically Internet Information Server/IIS), nested under Microsoft's private enterprise "software" branch. The available source data for this module is extremely sparse, consisting only of top-level registration nodes, which is consistent with it being a root SMI/registration module rather than a data-bearing one. Opening the InternetServer-MIB MIB Browser view shows only these registration nodes, confirming there is no request or process data to poll here directly. As such it does not itself expose interface, environment, or performance data; any actual monitoring of the web server's hardware/software status - such as service uptime, request throughput, or process health - would live in a downstream Microsoft-specific MIB anchored under this OID subtree. It depends on Microsoft's private enterprise SMI numbering for its OID assignment. It would be encountered in legacy Windows NT/Windows Server environments running Microsoft Internet Information Server with SNMP monitoring enabled.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in InternetServer-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Windows Server running Internet Information Services (IIS) — legacy MSFT-MIB registration root

Monitoring Examples

The supplied sample objects (microsoft, software, internetServer) are OID tree registration nodes rather than data tables, so this module has no runtime monitoring scenario of its own; actual IIS request/service status objects would be defined in a separate data MIB registered beneath this subtree.
