Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for SNMP agent configuration including community strings, trap targets, and v3 users.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is G6-SNMP-MIB?
G6-SNMP-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for Generation 6 Ethernet switches covering the switch's own SNMP agent configuration and basic system identity, effectively the switch's equivalent of a private system/SNMP-config MIB. It exposes device identity information (system description, name, location, contact, object ID) plus SNMPv1/v2 community configuration. This is primarily a configuration/software-status MIB, letting an operator confirm the switch's identity fields and SNMP access settings are correctly provisioned, foundational for any other monitoring of the device to work at all. It parallels the standard SNMPv2-MIB system group and SNMP-COMMUNITY-MIB concepts, though not explicitly declared as depending on them. It is deployed on every MICROSENS G6 switch as part of baseline SNMP management setup. Engineers can download the G6-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- MICROSENS G6 Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would read deviceInfoSysName, deviceInfoSysLocation, and deviceInfoSysContact from deviceInfoTable to confirm a switch's identity fields are set correctly for inventory purposes, and check deviceInfoSysObjectId to identify the exact hardware variant when scripting device-specific polling. v1v2ConfigTable, keyed by v1v2ConfigIndex, would be reviewed when troubleshooting why an NMS cannot poll the switch, to confirm the expected community string is configured. deviceInfoSysDescription gives a quick text summary of hardware/software version useful in an inventory sweep.
What Can Be Monitored
- system identity (name, location, contact)
- system description/object ID
- SNMPv1/v2 community configuration
