Category: Domain: Security, Protocol: SNMP, Vendor: D-Link

Description: Manages SNMP agent configuration including community strings, trap destinations, and access control on D-Link 3100 series switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DLINK-3100-SNMP-MIB?

DLINK-3100-SNMP-MIB is a D-Link proprietary MIB for the 3100 series switches that manages the device's own SNMP agent configuration, including SNMPv3 engine ID, IP-address-to-index mappings for notification targets, target address/parameter tables, and notification filtering. It exposes objects controlling how the switch's SNMP subsystem maps target addresses to internal indices (rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexTable), extends standard target-address tables with vendor-specific fields (rlTargetAddrExtTable), and manages notification filter testing levels. Its monitoring value is about the health and correctness of the management plane itself: confirming SNMPv3 engine identity, target address mappings, and notification filters are configured correctly is essential to trust that traps and polling data from the switch are being delivered and interpreted properly. It directly extends and depends on the standard SNMP-TARGET-MIB, SNMP-NOTIFICATION-MIB, and SNMP-FRAMEWORK-MIB (for engine ID and USM), adding D-Link-specific index-mapping and filtering extensions. It is deployed on D-Link 3100 series switches whenever SNMPv3 with multiple notification targets needs vendor-specific address indexing beyond what the standard SNMP MIBs alone provide. Engineers can download the DLINK-3100-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DLINK-3100-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • D-Link 3100 series switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would inspect rlSnmpEngineID to confirm the switch's SNMPv3 engine identity used for authentication/privacy, and check rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexTable/rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexEntry (keyed by rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexAddrType and rlSNMPv3IpAddrToIndexAddr) to verify a given trap-receiver IP address maps to the expected internal index used elsewhere in the SNMP configuration. Reviewing rlTargetAddrExtTable/rlTargetAddrExtEntry and rlTargetAddrMagicUsedInIndex helps diagnose why a particular notification target isn't receiving traps if its extended addressing entry is missing or mismatched. Checking rlNotifyFilterTestingLevel or rlTargetParamsTestingLevel would reveal if a diagnostic/testing filter level is inadvertently suppressing production notifications.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SNMPv3 engine ID
  • target address to index mapping
  • extended target address configuration
  • notification filter testing level
  • SNMP request tracking (rlSnmpRequestMridTable)
