Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for ring topology redundancy protocol configuration and ring status monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is G6-RING-MIB?

G6-RING-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for the Generation 6 switch family that configures and monitors ring-topology network redundancy protocols (such as Media Redundancy Protocol, MRP) used for fast failover in industrial Ethernet ring networks. It exposes a configuration table identifying each ring's name, enable state, master/client role, ring port assignments (Port A/Port B), and a separate MRP-specific configuration table. Its monitoring value is centered on network redundancy/topology status, letting an admin confirm a ring is correctly configured with an active ring master and both designated ports participating, which is essential for detecting a broken or misconfigured redundant path before a real link failure causes an outage. No explicit dependency on other MIBs is indicated, though the module conceptually relates to standard MRP/ring redundancy protocols. It is deployed on MICROSENS G6-series switches in industrial Ethernet ring topologies requiring sub-second failover. Engineers can download the G6-RING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-RING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MICROSENS G6-series Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin verifying ring redundancy health would poll configTable/configEntry via configEnableRing, configRingMaster, configPortA, and configPortB to confirm the ring is active with the expected switch acting as master and both ring ports correctly assigned. mrpConfigTable/mrpConfigEntry would be checked for MRP-specific parameters if a ring reconfiguration event seems slower than expected, which could reveal a misconfigured MRP timer or role.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ring enable state
  • ring master/client role
  • assigned ring ports (A/B)
  • MRP configuration
