Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for Power over Ethernet port power budget, priority, and status management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is G6-POE-MIB?
G6-POE-MIB is a private enterprise MIB from MICROSENS for its Generation 6 (G6) family of managed Ethernet switches, focused on Power over Ethernet (PoE) port management. It exposes configuration data such as per-port PoE priority and PoE+ enable state (configTable/configEntry with configPriorityPort, configEnablePoePlus), alongside operational data like per-port power status and overall power budget in statusTable and poeTotalPowerConsumed/poePoeMaxPowerAvailable. It is squarely aimed at monitoring the hardware health and capacity of the switch's PoE subsystem - tracking overall power budget consumption against the chassis maximum, per-port power draw and delivery status, and providing remote PoE port restart (poeRestartPoePort) for fault recovery. It builds on the standard IEEE 802.3af/at PoE model and typically sits alongside standard IF-MIB interface objects for the same ports. This MIB is deployed in enterprise LAN environments using MICROSENS G6 switches to power VoIP phones, wireless APs, and IP cameras, where administrators need visibility into available versus consumed PoE power. Engineers can download the G6-POE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-POE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- MICROSENS G6 managed Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll poeTotalPowerConsumed against poePoeMaxPowerAvailable to detect when the switch is approaching its PoE power budget ceiling before adding more powered devices. Walking statusTable (statusPortIndex) reveals per-port PoE delivery state, while configTable's configPriorityPort shows which ports are configured as high priority so they retain power during a budget shortfall. If a port stops delivering power unexpectedly, poeRestartPoePort can be invoked to power-cycle it without touching link configuration.
What Can Be Monitored
- total PoE power consumed
- maximum available PoE power budget
- per-port PoE priority
- PoE+ enable status per port
- per-port PoE operational status
