Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for IGMP snooping configuration and multicast group membership management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is G6-IGMP-MIB?

G6-IGMP-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for the Generation 6 switch family that manages IGMP and MLD snooping, the mechanisms switches use to track and optimize multicast traffic delivery to only interested ports. It exposes global enable/disable flags for IGMP and MLD snooping, per-VLAN configuration of snooping and static router ports, and objects to display current multicast group membership per VLAN or port. Its monitoring value lies in multicast configuration and state visibility, letting an admin confirm snooping is active where expected and see which ports are currently receiving which multicast streams, useful for diagnosing multicast video/IPTV delivery problems. No explicit dependency on other MIBs is indicated, though it conceptually parallels the standard IGMP-related MIBs. It is deployed on MICROSENS G6-series switches in networks carrying multicast traffic such as video distribution or industrial control systems. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the G6-IGMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-IGMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MICROSENS G6-series managed Ethernet switches

Monitoring Examples

An admin troubleshooting a multicast stream not reaching a client would check configTable/configEntry (via configVlanId, configEnableIgmpSnooping, configSnoopingPorts) to confirm snooping is enabled on the correct VLAN and port, and use igmpShowMulticastForPort to see whether the expected multicast group is actually registered on that port. configStaticRouterPorts would be checked to verify the multicast router-facing port is correctly configured, since a wrong setting there would explain streams failing to reach downstream switches.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IGMP/MLD snooping enable state
  • per-VLAN snooping configuration
  • multicast group membership by port/VLAN
  • static router port configuration
