Description: FSC-RTP-MIB-EVENT-MGMT module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FSC-RTP-MIB-EVENT-MGMT?
FSC-RTP-MIB-EVENT-MGMT is a Siemens/Fujitsu Siemens vendor MIB describing the Event Management component of the Resilient Telco Platform (RTP), a carrier-grade telecom server platform used in Siemens HiPath 8000 VoIP softswitch systems. Based on its module description and internal CVS path reference to HiPath8000 MIBs, it defines managed objects for capturing, categorizing, and reporting system events and alarms generated by the RTP platform. Its purpose is squarely software/system status monitoring: it lets an operator track fault and event conditions raised by the underlying telecom platform software, which would typically include event severity, event source, and event/alarm state useful for spotting abnormal application or platform behavior. It is tightly coupled to the broader HiPath 8000 RTP MIB family (as referenced in its source header) from which it inherits platform and event conventions. It is deployed in Siemens HiPath 8000 carrier VoIP softswitch installations where telecom operators need centralized event/alarm visibility into the underlying resilient server platform. Engineers can download the FSC-RTP-MIB-EVENT-MGMT file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FSC-RTP-MIB-EVENT-MGMT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Siemens HiPath 8000 Resilient Telco Platform (RTP) softswitch server
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were captured for this entry, so specific object names cannot be cited with confidence; based on the module description, a plausible scenario is an operator polling or receiving traps for RTP platform events to detect an abnormal condition, such as a software fault or resource alarm, raised by the HiPath 8000 event management subsystem, prompting investigation before it affects call processing.
What Can Be Monitored
- platform event/alarm conditions
- event severity and source

| rtpEventMgmtModule | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1 | The MIB module describes the Managed Objects of the Event Management of the Resilient Telco Platform (RTP) $Header: c:\cvsroot/mib_base/siemens/HiPath8000_Mibs_2008/RtpAdmEventMgmt.mib,v 1.2 2009/03/23 19:07:28 qiaxi01 Exp $ | ||
| rtpEventMgmt | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1 | The Event Management Functionality. | ||
| rtpEvtTable | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1 | not-accessible | A list of eventTable entries. A manager station can use this table to retrieve historical events (e.g. after startup or in case that event traps were lost). | |
| rtpEvtTableEntry | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1 | not-accessible | An eventTable entry indexed by sequenceNumberIndex. | |
| U32 rtpEvtSequenceNumberIndex | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.1 | Unsigned32 | read-only | The cluster-wide unique event sequence number. Will be incremented by one for each new event. Additional information related to notifications (traps) which include this object (e.g. those defined in 'rtpEvtTraps'): A manager station can detect the loss of events when subsequently received event traps do not have subsequent indices (i.e. index2 - index1 > 1). The RTP Event Manager can be configured in a way that it uses the RTP-internal high-priority-queue mechanism to forward events with a severity level of 'critical' when the regular message queue of the receiving process is full. Those events will then break the above mentioned rule of continous indices. (The Event Manager's behaviour is controlled by the following configuration parameter: Rtp/Evt/RtpEvtGetContigSequenceNumbers This parameter is visible to RTP system integrators, only.) |
| U32 rtpEvtCurrId | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.2 | Unsigned32 | read-only | The current log record Id of the event in the database. (Currently, this object's value is always identical to rtpEvtSequenceNumberIndex.) |
| I32 rtpEvtSet | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.3 | Integer32 | read-only | NLS set number of the event |
| I32 rtpEvtNum | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.4 | Integer32 | read-only | NLS id number of the event |
| INT rtpEvtSeverity | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.5 | INTEGER | read-only | the event's severity level |
| TIM rtpEvtEventTime | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.6 | TimeStampSeconds | read-only | The time when the event occurred, in seconds since 1.Jan.1970 00:00:00h UTC. |
| OCT rtpEvtReportingObject | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.7 | OCTET STRING | read-only | The reporting object is the process calling RtpEvtSendEventExt and is a field in the event logged in the event log table. In the extended notation mode, the new notation in the format MOC[:node[.object]] applies to the reportingObject (see rtpEvtFaultyObject). In non extended notation mode, the reporting object only contains the name of the reporting process. For the RtpEvtSendEvent call, faultyObject is always identical to the reportingObject. |
| OCT rtpEvtFaultyObject | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.8 | OCTET STRING | read-only | Specifies the faulty managed object. If the RTP configuration parameter Rtp/Evt/RtpEvtNewManagedObjectNotation is set to RtpTrue, an extended faulty object notation in the format MOC[:node[.object]] is supported (called extended notation mode), where MOC means the managed object class (i.e. one of the subsystems CS, OS, DB, RTP, OMNI, APPL), in which the event occurred, and node.object the managed object instance. node is the hostname of the faulty node (uname -n), and object the faulty instance itself (e.g. the faulty process). |
| INT rtpEvtEndkey | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.9 | INTEGER | read-only | End Key no longer supported and always set to noRecoveryDefined. End Key as integer. This field indicates whether an automatic recovery action has been initiated at the RTP or not. If this action succeeds an appropriate clear message will be sent by the RTP. Otherwise no clear message will be sent. |
| OCT rtpEvtFormatText | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.10 | OCTET STRING | read-only | Format string of the default short text with place holders like printf format for variable parameters. Please note: as this is the default text, it is NOT localized. The localized versions of short, long and repair texts are accessible by NLS catalogues in source format that can be downloaded from the RTP. |
| OCT rtpEvtParameters | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.11 | OCTET STRING | read-only | Variable parts of event, encoded as follows: rtpEvtParameters := /* empty */ | rtpEvtParameters parameter parameter := type '=' value type := 'c' /* character */ | 's' /* string */ | 'd' /* integer/long integer */ | 'u' /* unsigned integer/unsigned long integer */ | 'g' /* float/double */ value := /* empty */ | value |

| OCT rtpEvtShortText | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.1.1.13 | OCTET STRING | read-only | Localized short text including all variable parameters. The locale that is used depends on the settings in the runtime environment of the RTP. |
| U32 rtpEvtLastEventSequenceNumber | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.2 | Unsigned32 | read-only | Sequence number corresponding to the youngest sent rtpEvtSequenceNumberIndex |
| rtpEvtTraps | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.3 | The rtpEvtTraps are sent as generic and/or specific traps to different management stations. Specific traps can be received only by management stations which have defined their own event filter (see 'rtpEvtFilterTable'). In general generic traps are sent to all stations configured in the '/etc/snmp/agt/snmpd.cnf' file. This behaviour can be controlled by the following configuration parameter: Rtp/Adm/eventMgmt/impl/snmp/sendGenericTrap (default value: RtpTrue) Set this parameter to 'RtpFalse' to prohibit that generic 'rtpEvtTraps' are sent to configured stations as described above. (This parameter is visible to RTP customers) | ||
| NTF rtpEvtTrapCritical | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.3.1 | Trap issued by the RTP with a perceived severity value of 'critical'. The objects contained in the variable binding list are scalar objects. Note: if the management station has defined an event filter 'rtpEvtFilterLastTransId' contains the current (last) transmission id. Otherwise this value is set to 0. | ||
| NTF rtpEvtTrapMajor | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.3.2 | Trap issued by the RTP with a perceived severity value of 'major'. The objects contained in the variable binding list are scalar objects. Note: if the management station has defined an event filter 'rtpEvtFilterLastTransId' contains the current (last) transmission id. Otherwise this value is set to 0. | ||
| NTF rtpEvtTrapInformation | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.3.5 | Trap issued by the RTP with a perceived severity value of 'normal'. The objects contained in the variable binding list are scalar objects. Note: if the management station has defined an event filter 'rtpEvtFilterLastTransId' contains the current (last) transmission id. Otherwise this value is set to 0. | ||
| NTF rtpEvtTrapClear | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.3.6 | Trap issued by the RTP with a perceived severity value of 'cleared'. The objects contained in the variable binding list are scalar objects. | OCT rtpEvtFilterIpAddress | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.1 | OCTET STRING | read-only | This is the IP address of the management station which defines this event filter entry. Each octet of this value represents one part (byte) of the IP address; (IPv6 is not supported!) It's used as table index and assigned during creation of a new conceptual row. |
| OCT rtpEvtFilterEventSets | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.2 | OCTET STRING | read-create | This value is the ascii representation of the selected event sets separated by colons. (e.g. 5:8:12:25:110) An empty (i.e. an octet string with length 0) value means: no event set filtering. This value is mandatory for event filter (row) creation. It also can be set after the event filter has been created. |
| OCT rtpEvtFilterSeverityLevels | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.3 | OCTET STRING | read-create | This value is the ascii representation of the selected severity levels separated by colons. (e.g. 1:3:4) Use: 1 = critical 2 = major 3 = minor 4 = warning 5 = information 6 = clear 7 = indeterminate An empty (i.e. an octet string with length 0) value means: no severity level filtering. This value is mandatory for event filter (row) creation. It also can be set after the event filter has been created. |
| INT rtpEvtFilterSnmpVersion | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.4 | INTEGER | read-create | The version of the SNMP traps sent to the management station; can be SNMPv1, SNMPv2c or SNMPv3. Note: if 'SNMPv3' is selected but not supported (EMANATE major version <= 14) SNMPv2c traps will be sent instead! If 'SNMPv3' is selected the subagent uses the user name 'RtpSnmp1' with HMAC-MD5 authentication protocol and without a privacy protocol! The user must be configured in the configuration files 'mgr.cnf' and 'snmpd.cnf'. This value is mandatory for event filter (row) creation. It also can be set after the event filter has been created. |
| U32 rtpEvtFilterLastTransId | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.5 | Unsigned32 | read-only | Transmission identifier used for the last sent event trap. This value will be incremented every time before sending a trap to the management station which has defined this event filter. A management station which has defined an event filter can detect the loss of events when subsequently received event traps do not have subsequent transmission identifiers (i.e. transId2 - transId1 > 1). See also 'rtpEvtTraps'! A management station should poll this object to detect the loss of traps (e.g. when receiving traps fails). Warning: this is a non-persistent value. Each time the agent restarts, its value is 0 until the 1st event trap with the transmission id of 1 is sent. |
| U32 rtpEvtFilterLastCurrId | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.6 | Unsigned32 | read-only | The current log record Id of the event contained in the last sent event trap (see rtpEvtTraps). Warning: this is a non-persistent value. Each time the agent restarts, its value is 0 until the 1st event trap is sent. |
| ROW rtpEvtFilterRowStatus | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.7 | RowStatus | read-create | The current status of this conceptual row of the table. 'active' (returned) indicates that the conceptual row is available for use by the system. 'createAndGo' has to be set when a new conceptual row is to be created; all of the columnar objects with a MAX-ACCESS of 'read-create' that do not have a default value have to be set within the same Set PDU. The index value must not exist in the table when the row is created. (Any non-existing index value will be accepted.) After a successful creation, this object is automatically set to 'active'. 'destroy' has to be set when the conceptual row is to be deleted. None of the other values defined for 'RowStatus' are expected to be set by the management station or are returned. |
| I32 rtpEvtFilterTrapDestPort | 1.3.6.1.4.1.4329.2.1.2.1.1.9.1.8 | Integer32 | read-create | This is the destination port number for traps. By default this value is set to -1. When no other port number is specified, the master agent uses the default port 162. |
