Description: H7531-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H7531-MIB?

The H7531-MIB corresponds to a Comet H7531 environmental monitoring sensor, a compact device that measures temperature and humidity (and often ancillary conditions) and can drive alarm relays. It exposes basic environmental measurement objects—temperature, humidity, pressure, and a general computed value—alongside configurable alarm thresholds (tempLow/tempHigh, humidityLow) and digital input/relay status objects. Its core use is monitoring the physical environmental status of a facility or equipment room, such as detecting over-temperature or humidity excursions that could threaten rack-mounted hardware, and reporting relay/input contact state for door sensors or external alarms. It is a standalone enterprise MIB with no notable dependency on other MIBs. It is typically deployed in server rooms, telecom closets, or industrial cabinets where a Comet H7531 sensor unit reports environmental conditions to a monitoring system. Engineers can download the H7531-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H7531-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Comet H7531 environmental sensor

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll the temperature and humidity objects regularly and compare them against tempHigh/tempLow and humidityLow thresholds to detect an environmental excursion, such as a failed air-conditioning unit causing a temperature spike in a server room. The relay1/relay2 and input1/input2/input3 objects reveal whether the device has triggered an alarm relay or detected a contact closure (e.g., an open door), and computedValue can represent a derived metric such as dew point.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ambient temperature
  • relative humidity
  • atmospheric pressure
  • alarm relay state
  • digital input/contact status
  • high/low threshold alarms

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using relay1 OID:

Select a Comet H7531 environmental monitoring sensor as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type relay1 into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. It reports the relay 1 status. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is an INTEGER-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the value drifts significantly from its normal baseline, since an unexpected change often points to a real underlying issue. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
