Description: Brocade Foundry notification MIB providing SNMPv2-format trap and notification definitions for system events on FastIron network devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FOUNDRY-SN-NOTIFICATION-MIB?
FOUNDRY-SN-NOTIFICATION-MIB is a Brocade/Foundry proprietary MIB that defines SNMPv2-format trap and notification OIDs for system-level events on FastIron routers and switches. Rather than exposing pollable state tables, it is a notification-definitions module: its content is the catalog of traps a device can emit (e.g., hardware faults, configuration changes, protocol state transitions) rather than gettable counters. Its role in monitoring is fault/event-driven rather than polling-based hardware status: an NMS uses these trap definitions to recognize and act on unsolicited alerts about hardware or software conditions the instant they occur, complementing periodic polling of other Foundry MIBs. It depends implicitly on the other FOUNDRY-SN-* MIBs whose tables and objects the trap varbinds reference. It is deployed wherever Brocade/Foundry FastIron equipment sends SNMP traps to a central network management or alerting platform. Engineers can download the FOUNDRY-SN-NOTIFICATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FOUNDRY-SN-NOTIFICATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Brocade/Foundry FastIron router/switch
Monitoring Examples
No runtime data objects are exposed by this module (sample_objects is empty); it is purely a set of NOTIFICATION-TYPE trap definitions. Rather than a polling scenario, an NMS would register to receive these traps and map each trap OID to an alert (e.g., a fan failure, temperature threshold breach, or link state change) reported by the underlying FastIron hardware, without any corresponding table to poll directly from this MIB itself.

| NTF snTrapChasPwrSupply | 1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.0.1 | The SNMP trap that is generated when a power supply fails to operate normally. The value is a packed bit string; the 2 power supplies status are encoded into 4 bits (a nibble). The following shows the meaning of each bit: (bit 0 is the least significant bit). bit position meaning ------------ ------- 4-31 reserved 3 Power Supply 2 DC (0=bad, 1=good). 2 Power Supply 1 DC (0=bad, 1=good). 1 Power Supply 2 present status (0=present, 1=not-present). 0 Power Supply 1 present status (0=present, 1=not-present). | ||
| NTF snTrapLockedAddressViolation | 1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.0.2 | The SNMP trap that is generated when more source MAC addresses are received from a port than the maximum number of addresses configured to that port. | ||
| NTF snTrapOspfIfStateChange | 1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.0.3 | An ospfIfStateChange trap signifies that there has been a change in the state of a non-virtual OSPF interface. This trap should be generated when the interface state regresses (e.g., goes from Dr to Down) or progresses to a terminal state (i.e., Point-to-Point, DR Other, Dr, or Backup). | ||
| NTF snTrapOspfVirtIfStateChange | 1.3.6.1.4.1.1991.0.4 | An ospfIfStateChange trap signifies that there has been a change in the state of an OSPF vir- tual interface. The first varbind, snAgGblTrapMessage, will have a detailed message on the cause of event. The second varbind, ifIndex, points to the affected interface originating this event. If an event does not have associated port, or has multiple associated ports, then ifIndex will have maximum value 0x7ffffff. | ||
