What Is FOUNDRY-SN-WIRELESS-GROUP-MIB?

FOUNDRY-SN-WIRELESS-GROUP-MIB is a Brocade/Foundry proprietary MIB for managing wireless LAN mobility groups, access point interfaces, and roaming behavior on FastIron-based wireless controller deployments. It exposes per-interface wireless configuration (wireless enable, auto-provisioning/PnP learning of new APs, VPN policy tunnel associations) and a roaming-peer table describing mobility relationships between controllers. Its monitoring focus is software/configuration status of the wireless control plane rather than radio-level counters: an operator can check whether an interface has wireless enabled, whether auto-port-disable or full compatible roaming is active, and whether new access points are being auto-learned, which reveals misprovisioned or unauthorized APs. It has an implicit dependency on VPN policy-table objects (wgIfVpnPTPolicyId, wgVpnPTDeletePolicy) shared with Foundry's VPN/tunnel MIBs. It is deployed in enterprise wireless deployments built around Brocade/Foundry FastIron wireless controllers managing groups of access points. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the FOUNDRY-SN-WIRELESS-GROUP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FOUNDRY-SN-WIRELESS-GROUP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Brocade/Foundry FastIron wireless LAN controller

Monitoring Examples

An admin would walk wgIfTable/wgIfEntry to check wgIfWirelessEnable per interface and confirm wgIfPnPLearnNewAP is set as intended, since an unexpectedly enabled auto-learn setting could let a rogue AP join the mobility group. wgRoamingPeerTable/wgRoamingPeerEntry would be polled to verify which peer controllers participate in roaming for a given wgMobilityId, revealing a peer that has dropped out of the mobility group. wgIfVpnPTPolicyId and wgIfFullCompRoamingEnable show which VPN tunneling policy and roaming-compatibility mode apply to each wireless interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-interface wireless enable state
  • AP auto-provisioning/learning setting
  • roaming peer membership
  • mobility group ID
  • VPN tunnel policy association
  • auto port disable state
