Description: Promise Technology FastTrak RAID controller MIB for monitoring disk array status, logical drives, and controller health via SNMP.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FASTTRAK-MIB?

FASTTRAK-MIB is a Promise Technology proprietary MIB for its FastTrak family of hardware RAID controllers, providing SNMP visibility into disk array configuration and health. It exposes controller identity information (manufacturer, model number, verify status) along with a disk array table describing each array's ID, name, RAID mode, activity status, functional status, and capacity. This MIB is squarely a hardware-health monitoring module: it lets administrators check whether a RAID array is in a normal, degraded, rebuilding, or failed state, directly reflecting the physical disk/storage hardware status behind the controller, and it defines traps to proactively alert on array state changes. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no strong dependency on other standard MIBs beyond basic SNMPv2-SMI conventions. It is typically deployed on servers or storage appliances equipped with Promise FastTrak RAID controller cards where storage administrators need remote, out-of-band visibility into array health. Engineers can download the FASTTRAK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FASTTRAK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Promise Technology FastTrak RAID controllers (installed in servers/storage systems)

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll the fasttrakArrayTable/fasttrakArrayEntry for each array's arrayId, checking arrayActivityStatus and arrayFunctionalStatus to see whether the array is idle, rebuilding, or degraded, alongside arrayRaidMode and arrayArraySize to confirm the array's configured redundancy level and capacity. A functional status showing degraded or failed for an array whose activity status is not rebuilding would indicate a disk failure requiring replacement. The module's traps facility can also push an alert automatically the moment an array's functional status changes, rather than waiting for the next poll.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID array functional/health status
  • array activity status (rebuilding/idle)
  • RAID mode/level
  • array size/capacity
  • controller model and firmware verify status
