Description: Broadcom FastPath MIB for loopback interface management including creation, deletion, and IP address assignment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is FASTPATH-LOOPBACK-MIB?

FASTPATH-LOOPBACK-MIB is a Broadcom Corporation vendor-private MIB for the FastPath switch software stack that manages loopback interfaces -- virtual interfaces used for stable router IDs, management access, or protocol-testing purposes. Its single agentLoopbackTable, indexed by agentLoopbackID, ties each loopback instance to an internally generated interface via agentLoopbackIfIndex, and exposes the configured agentLoopbackIPAddress and agentLoopbackIPSubnet along with an agentLoopbackStatus RowStatus object used to create (createAndGo) or delete (destroy) loopback instances. Because loopback interfaces are commonly used as stable endpoints for routing protocols and management traffic, monitoring this table is useful for confirming a loopback is active and correctly addressed, and for detecting unexpected creation or deletion of loopback interfaces. It depends on the underlying FastPath IF-MIB/ifTable interface index space that agentLoopbackIfIndex maps into, and is deployed on Broadcom FastPath-based switches, and the FASTPATH-LOOPBACK-MIB MIB documents each of these loopback objects for administrators managing loopback interfaces via SNMP.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FASTPATH-LOOPBACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Broadcom FastPath-based switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks agentLoopbackStatus for a given agentLoopbackID to confirm the loopback is active and validates agentLoopbackIPAddress matches the expected router-ID address; a loopback stuck in a non-active RowStatus state would indicate the interface failed to create successfully and any routing protocol relying on that stable address would be affected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • loopback interface creation/deletion status (RowStatus)
  • loopback-to-physical-interface index mapping
  • configured loopback IP address and subnet mask
  • loopback instance enumeration
