Description: FASTPATH-GREENETHERNET-PRIVATE-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is FASTPATH-GREENETHERNET-PRIVATE-MIB?
This Broadcom FASTPATH private MIB implements Green Ethernet energy-efficiency features, most notably IEEE 802.3az Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE), on FASTPATH-based switches. It exposes global EEE configuration (mode, transmit wake time, transmit idle time) alongside cumulative and historical energy-saving statistics tracked per interface, including a Low Power Idle (LPI) history table sampled at configurable intervals. Its monitoring emphasis is on power-management/software feature status rather than fault detection — agentGreenCumEnergySaving and the per-interface agentGreenEeeLpiHistoryIntfPercentLpiTime reveal how much time each link spends in the low-power idle state, letting an admin verify EEE is actually engaging and estimate energy savings, while unexpectedly low LPI time on an idle link could indicate an EEE negotiation problem with the link partner. It extends the IEEE 802.3az EEE standard with FASTPATH-specific historical sampling rather than depending on another IETF MIB. It is deployed on FASTPATH-based edge and access switches in energy-conscious enterprise or campus deployments where EEE-capable links are used to reduce power draw on lightly-loaded ports. Engineers can download the FASTPATH-GREENETHERNET-PRIVATE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in FASTPATH-GREENETHERNET-PRIVATE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- FASTPATH-based Ethernet switch (multiple OEM brands) with IEEE 802.3az EEE-capable ports
Monitoring Examples
An admin would check agentGreenEeeMode globally, then poll agentGreenIntfEeeLpiHistoryEntry (indexed by agentGreenEeeLpiHistoryIntfIndex and agentGreenEeeLpiHistoryIntfSampleIndex) to read agentGreenEeeLpiHistoryIntfPercentLpiTime and agentGreenEeeLpiHistoryIntfPercentLpiTimeTotal for a given interface, confirming how much of the sample window that link spent in low-power idle mode. agentGreenEeeTxWakeTime and agentGreenEeeTxIdleTime show the configured EEE timers, and agentGreenCumEnergySaving gives a cumulative energy-savings figure; a link expected to be lightly loaded but showing near-zero LPI time would suggest an EEE negotiation mismatch with its link partner.
What Can Be Monitored
- global EEE mode
- EEE transmit wake/idle timers
- cumulative energy savings
- per-interface LPI history/percentage
- LPI sample interval and max samples
