Description: Dell Force10 MIB for the M-Series blade chassis hardware components including fabric modules and blade inventory.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F10-M-SERIES-CHASSIS-MIB?

F10-M-SERIES-CHASSIS-MIB is a Dell (formerly Force10 Networks) MIB that models the physical chassis of the M-Series line of modular blade switches running Dell Networking OS (FTOS). It exposes hardware inventory and status data for the chassis itself along with its populated fabric modules, line-card blades, and interconnects, following the same chassis-component pattern Force10/Dell uses across its chassis MIB family. Its central purpose is hardware health monitoring: tracking whether power supplies and fans are present and operating normally, whether each blade/fabric module slot is populated and in an up/faulted state, and overall chassis environmental status. It commonly works alongside other Dell/Force10 chassis and system MIBs (and standard ENTITY-MIB concepts) for a complete physical inventory view. It is deployed in data-center and campus core/aggregation environments where M-Series blade chassis switches provide high-density, modular switching capacity. Engineers can download the F10-M-SERIES-CHASSIS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F10-M-SERIES-CHASSIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell Force10 M-Series blade chassis switches

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll the chassis's power-supply and fan-tray status tables (following the vendor's standard chassis-component-status pattern) to detect a failed or missing power supply or a fan running outside normal RPM range. Similarly, polling the blade/fabric-module inventory table would reveal whether a fabric module has gone offline or a blade slot has transitioned to a fault state, which is critical since a fabric module failure can degrade backplane bandwidth across the whole chassis. Specific object names were not available in the sampled data for this module, so this example describes the general monitoring pattern rather than exact identifiers.

What Can Be Monitored

  • power supply status
  • fan status
  • fabric module status
  • blade/line-card slot status
  • chassis inventory
