What Is FORCE10-SMI?

FORCE10-SMI is Force10 Networks' (a data-center switch/router vendor later acquired by Dell, forming part of the Dell Networking/OS10 lineage) Structure of Management Information MIB, defining the enterprise OID root and major subtree structure for all Force10 proprietary MIB modules. As an SMI module it contains no managed objects, tables, or traps itself -- only the OID hierarchy that Force10's actual chassis, interface, and environmental MIBs register beneath. It therefore exposes no direct hardware or software status data; real monitoring of Force10 switch/router uptime, temperature, power, fan, and interface status is done through the specific Force10 MIB modules that this SMI module organizes.
