Description: Dell Force10 MIB for Link Aggregation (LAG/port-channel) configuration and operational status on Force10 switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F10-LINK-AGGREGATION-MIB?

This Dell Force10 MIB manages Link Aggregation Groups (LAGs, also called port-channels) on Dell Networking OS switches, extending the standard IEEE 802.3ad aggregation model (reflected in its dot3aAgg-prefixed objects) with Force10-specific extensions. It exposes configuration data (aggregate MAC address, member port list, LACP-supported flag) alongside operational status for each aggregation group, and vendor-specific alarm objects under f10LinkAggAlarms. Its main monitoring role is tracking the operational/hardware status of trunked links: dot3aAggCfgOperStatus reveals whether a LAG is up or down, and dot3aAggCfgPortList/dot3aAggCfgNumPorts let an admin confirm all expected member ports are actively bundled rather than degraded to a subset. It is explicitly modeled on the IEEE 802.3ad/dot3ad Link Aggregation standard, layering Force10 alarm and static-LAG extensions on top. It is deployed on Dell Force10 switches wherever multiple physical links are bonded for bandwidth and redundancy between switches or to servers. Engineers can download the F10-LINK-AGGREGATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F10-LINK-AGGREGATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell Force10 switch/router (FTOS/Dell Networking OS)

Monitoring Examples

An admin would query dot3aAggConfigTable/dot3aAggConfigEntry per LAG to read dot3aAggCfgOperStatus and dot3aAggCfgNumPorts, comparing the configured dot3aAggCfgPortList against the currently active member count to detect a member link that has dropped out of the bundle. dot3aAggCfgLacpSupported confirms whether the LAG is running dynamic LACP negotiation versus a static aggregation via dot3aAggStaticTable. f10LinkAggAlarms would be checked for vendor-specific fault notifications tied to aggregation state changes.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LAG operational status
  • LAG member port list/count
  • LACP support flag
  • static aggregation membership
  • aggregation MAC address
  • link aggregation alarms
