Description: Extreme Networks MIB providing vendor-specific SNMPv3 configuration objects for user-based security model settings on ExtremeXOS.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is EXTREME-SNMPV3-MIB?
EXTREME-SNMPV3-MIB is an Extreme Networks vendor MIB supplementing the standard SNMPv3 User-based Security Model (USM) with Extreme-specific configuration objects for managing SNMPv3 users, security levels, and access parameters on ExtremeXOS switches. It exposes SNMPv3 user/security configuration data rather than device performance or fault data — essentially administrative/security configuration state. Its monitoring value is limited to confirming SNMP management-plane configuration and security posture (e.g., which SNMPv3 users exist and their configured security level) rather than hardware or performance health, though a misconfigured entry here could explain why a management station cannot poll the device at all. It explicitly extends the standard SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB (RFC 3414) with vendor-specific parameters. It's typically deployed on ExtremeXOS switches where administrators need to configure or audit SNMPv3 security settings beyond what the standard USM MIB exposes. Engineers can download the EXTREME-SNMPV3-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-SNMPV3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Extreme Networks ExtremeXOS-based switch
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were provided for this module, so specific object names can't be confirmed; based on its description, an admin auditing SNMPv3 access would typically check Extreme-specific user/security-level configuration objects here, and an unexpectedly weak security level or an unrecognized user entry would signal a security misconfiguration.
What Can Be Monitored
- SNMPv3 user configuration
- security level settings
- SNMP access configuration
