What Is EXTREME-SUMMIT-WM-SMI?

EXTREME-SUMMIT-WM-SMI is a Structure of Management Information module for Extreme Networks' Summit Wireless Manager (WM) product line, defining the top-level OID registration tree under which the Summit WM switch MIB modules place their objects. It contains no runtime data itself, only root node OBJECT-IDENTITY definitions establishing the naming hierarchy. Because it carries no data objects, it has no direct role in reporting hardware/software status; that responsibility belongs to the child MIBs registered beneath this root, which cover wireless controller and access point management. Every Summit WM-specific MIB module depends on this SMI for its OID namespace. It is used during MIB compilation for Extreme Networks Summit WM wireless LAN controller deployments. Administrators typically download EXTREME-SUMMIT-WM-SMI alongside the full set of Summit WM operational MIBs so their compiler can resolve every object's OID namespace correctly.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-SUMMIT-WM-SMI. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Extreme Networks ExtremeCloud IQ Controller — current on-prem/cloud wireless LAN controller, functional successor to the Summit WM controller line

Monitoring Examples

This is a pure SMI/root module defining only the OID branch for Summit WM switch MIBs; it has no sample objects or tables, so no monitoring scenario applies — its role is solely to anchor the OID hierarchy for other Summit WM MIB modules.
