What Is CISCO-SONET-EXT-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-SONET-EXT-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module declaring which objects of the companion CISCO-SONET-MIB a given Cisco optical/ATM switching module supports, covering platform variants such as the ATM Switch Service Module (AXSM), Enhanced AXSM (AXSM-E), Service Resource Module (SRM-E), and Voice Switch Service Module (VXSM). It belongs to the Cisco optical/SONET MIB family and defines no runtime data objects itself. It plays no direct monitoring role for hardware or software status; it exists to document per-module, per-firmware-revision support levels for SONET extension features. It is explicitly dependent on CISCO-SONET-MIB, the module whose object support it describes across multiple hardware revisions. It is used by SNMP management systems for capability discovery on Cisco MGX/BPX-class ATM/SONET switching platforms. Engineers can download the CISCO-SONET-EXT-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
