What Is EXTREME-EDP-MIB?

EXTREME-EDP-MIB is an Extreme Networks proprietary MIB reporting EDP (Extreme Discovery Protocol) neighbor-discovery information, Extreme's proprietary analog to LLDP/CDP. Its neighbor table, keyed by port ifIndex, records neighbor ID/name, software version, slot, port, and entry age, while a companion VLAN-neighbor table reports discovered VLAN name/ID/IP address per neighbor, and a port table records EDP enable state per port. As a discovery/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm exactly which Extreme switch is connected to a given port and its software version, without relying on manual cabling documentation. It is deployed on Extreme Networks switches. Engineers can download the EXTREME-EDP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EXTREME-EDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • EDP neighbor discovery (connected device identity and software version)

Supported Devices

  • Extreme Networks switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator walks extremeEdpNeighborTable to confirm which specific Extreme switch and software version is connected to an uplink port, without needing to physically trace the cable.
