Category: Domain: Telephony/VoIP, Vendor: Ekinops

Description: Provides SNMP management objects for ETS (Enhanced Telecommunications Services) or terminal server equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ETS-MIB?

ETS-MIB is a project-specific MIB (referred to internally as the "196IETS project") providing configuration and status information for terminal-server/enhanced telecommunications services equipment, focused on IP-based connections and E2A link management. It exposes card-type identification, polling/retry configuration, health-message intervals, and tables tracking individual IP connections and E2A links, each with its own status field. From a hardware/software status standpoint, this MIB centers on connection-level health: aiEtsConnectionTable exposes the up/down status of each managed IP connection, aiHealthMessageInterval and aiPollRetryLimit govern how aggressively the device checks peer liveness, and aiE2aLinkTable tracks the state of E2A communication links, letting an operator detect failed or reconnecting sessions. No explicit external MIB dependency is indicated in the available description. It is deployed in specialized terminal-server or telecom-gateway equipment managing multiple IP-based peer connections that require active health monitoring and automatic reconnection. Engineers can download the ETS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ETS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • terminal server/telecom gateway equipment
  • 196IETS project device

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll aiEtsConnectionTable/aiEtsConnectionEntry, indexed by aiConnectionIndex, to check aiIpAddress and aiConnectionStatus for each managed peer connection, and similarly walk aiE2aLinkTable/aiE2aLinkEntry by aiE2aLinkIndex for E2A link state. A connection whose aiConnectionStatus shows down, combined with the configured aiReconnectionTimeOutPeriod having elapsed, would indicate a peer has failed to reconnect and needs operator attention; aiHealthMessageInterval and aiPollRetryLimit reveal how the device itself is configured to detect such failures.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP connection status
  • E2A link status
  • poll retry limit
  • health message interval
  • reconnection timeout period
  • card type
