Description: Manages SLA probes measuring latency, jitter, and packet loss for service level assurance on Ericsson routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-SLA-MIB?
ERICSSON-ROUTER-SLA-MIB is an Ericsson vendor-specific MIB that defines objects and notifications for service level agreement (SLA) threshold monitoring on Ericsson router platforms, layered on top of TWAMP-based active measurement jobs. Its single eriRouterSlaReactionTable, indexed by job ID, monitored element, and threshold type, tracks which SLA measurement job is being watched (eriRouterSlaJobID), which metric is being checked -- near-end, far-end, or two-way delay, delay variation, or packet loss (eriRouterSlaMonitoredElement) -- and whether the configured threshold is currently violated (eriRouterSlaReactionStatus). Rather than carrying raw measurement data itself, the MIB is purely a reaction/alerting layer: it fires one of eighteen paired rising/falling NOTIFICATION-TYPE traps (for example eriRouterSlaNearEndDelayRisingThresholdMet and its falling counterpart) whenever a job's delay, jitter, or loss threshold is crossed in either direction. It depends on the eriRouterMgmt/ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI enterprise tree and on the underlying TWAMP measurement jobs configured elsewhere on the router (eriRouterSlaJobType currently only supports twamp(1)), and it is deployed on Ericsson routers running active SLA measurement, giving operators ERICSSON-ROUTER-SLA-MIB SNMP monitoring of threshold breaches without having to poll raw delay/loss counters directly.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-SLA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ericsson router platforms (SLA/TWAMP-capable)
Monitoring Examples
An operator subscribes to eriRouterSlaTwoWayDelayRisingThresholdMet and eriRouterSlaTwoWayLostPacketsRisingThresholdMet traps for a given eriRouterSlaJobID to get near-real-time alerts on SLA degradation, then checks eriRouterSlaReactionStatus in eriRouterSlaReactionTable to confirm the violation is still active; a rising trap with no corresponding falling trap minutes later would indicate a sustained SLA breach rather than a transient blip.
What Can Be Monitored
- SLA threshold violation status per job/element
- near-end/far-end/two-way delay threshold events
- delay-variation (jitter) threshold events
- packet-loss threshold events
- SLA job type and threshold calculation method
