Description: Manages Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol (TWAMP) sessions for measuring IP network delay and loss on Ericsson routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-TWAMP-MIB?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-TWAMP-MIB is an Ericsson vendor-specific MIB that, despite its name suggesting full TWAMP session management, actually models only the alarm/notification layer for TWAMP (Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol) on Ericsson router platforms -- it does not itself expose TWAMP session configuration, delay, jitter, or packet-loss measurement data. Its single eriRouterTwampAlarmActiveTable, indexed by an alarm index, records each currently active TWAMP-related alarm's timestamp (eriRouterTwampAlarmDateAndTime), Ericsson alarm type (eriRouterTwampEriAlarmType), ITU perceived severity (eriRouterTwampAlarmSeverity), and a free-text description. A single notification, eriRouterTwampAlarm, carries all of these objects whenever a TWAMP-related alarm is raised or cleared, making this purely a fault/alarm-surfacing MIB layered on top of TWAMP measurement functionality configured elsewhere on the router. It depends on ERICSSON-ALARM-TC-MIB for its EriAlarmType convention, ITU-ALARM-TC-MIB for perceived severity, and the eriRouterMgmt/ERICSSON-ROUTER-SMI enterprise tree for OID placement. It is deployed on Ericsson routers running TWAMP-based measurement, giving operators ERICSSON-ROUTER-TWAMP-MIB SNMP monitoring of TWAMP subsystem alarms rather than the underlying measurement counters themselves.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-TWAMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson router platforms (TWAMP-capable)

Monitoring Examples

An operator subscribes to eriRouterTwampAlarm notifications and polls eriRouterTwampAlarmActiveTable to see currently outstanding TWAMP alarms; an alarm entry with a high ItuPerceivedSeverity and no corresponding clear notification arriving afterward would indicate a persistent TWAMP subsystem fault (for example, a failed reflector session) needing investigation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • active TWAMP alarm table entries
  • alarm timestamp and Ericsson alarm type
  • ITU perceived severity of TWAMP alarms
  • TWAMP alarm raise/clear notifications

RFC description

Vendor-specific MIB for Ericsson routers with TWAMP (Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol) support; manages performance measurement sessions and metrics for network path quality assessment.

Start monitoring Ericsson router platform, TWAMP-capable (TWAMP alarm/notification layer) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
