Category: Protocol: LDAP, Vendor: Ericsson

Description: Monitors LDAP client connections, server statistics, and authentication requests on Ericsson routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-LDAP-MIB?

ERICSSON-ROUTER-LDAP-MIB monitors the LDAP client subsystem used by Ericsson SmartEdge/SM/SSR routers, typically for subscriber authentication or directory lookups against external LDAP servers. It exposes objects identifying the configured LDAP server (name, IP address, port) and per-context/user request details, along with a notification for LDAP client events. As a software-status MIB, it's used to monitor whether the router's LDAP client can successfully reach and use its configured directory server -- tracking which server/port a given context is using and surfacing authentication-request failures via its notification, which helps diagnose subscriber login or provisioning problems tied to directory-service connectivity. It depends on the underlying LDAP protocol and Ericsson's context-based subscriber-management architecture, though it does not import a separate standard LDAP MIB. It's deployed in broadband/mobile edge or AAA-integrated environments where Ericsson routers use LDAP for subscriber or administrative authentication. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-LDAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-LDAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Router (MSER)
  • Ericsson Smart Service Router (SSR)
  • Ericsson broadband/mobile edge router (BNG)

Monitoring Examples

An operator checks eriRouterLdapServerName, eriRouterLdapServerIPAddress, and eriRouterLdapServerPort to confirm which LDAP server a given eriRouterLdapContextName is configured to use, and monitors for eriRouterLdapNotifications events tied to eriRouterLdapUserName to detect failed authentication attempts. A spike in LDAP notification events for a particular context, with no matching change in eriRouterLdapServerIPAddress, would point to the LDAP server itself being unreachable or overloaded rather than a router misconfiguration.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured LDAP server address/port
  • LDAP context binding
  • authenticated user name
  • LDAP client notification events
