RBN-IETF-ETHER-WIS-CAP is an Ericsson AGENT-CAPABILITIES module describing SmartEdge/SSR BRAS support for the IETF Ethernet WAN Interface Sublayer (Ether-WIS) MIB, which governs WAN-mode Ethernet interfaces running over SONET/SDH. It defines no objects of its own; it documents which Ether-WIS groups (such as physical-layer alarm and defect status) the platform's SNMP agent actually implements. Its role in monitoring is to indicate whether WAN-mode Ethernet physical-layer fault and alarm information is available for polling on a given SmartEdge software release, which is important for detecting line-level faults on Ethernet-over-SONET circuits.
