Category: Standard: IETF, Vendor: Ericsson

Description: Declares Ericsson router agent capabilities for the IETF SNMPv3 User-based Security Model MIB (RFC 3414).

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMPv3-USM-CAP?

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, not a data MIB: it declares which parts of the standard IETF SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB (RFC 3414, the SNMPv3 User-based Security Model) are implemented by Ericsson's router agent software. It belongs to the Ericsson SmartEdge/SmartEdge-derived router family and covers the SEOS operating system used across the SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Router (MSER), SM Metro Ethernet Service Transport, and Smart Service Router (SSR) product lines. It exposes no runtime object data of its own; instead it statically documents which USM MIB groups, objects, and variations the agent supports, keyed to a specific SEOS release. Because of that, it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software operational status such as uptime, temperature, or CPU load - it is consulted by management tools to determine SNMPv3 security-model support before configuring users and access. It exists solely to describe conformance with SNMP-USER-BASED-SM-MIB/RFC 3414, and is used during NMS onboarding of Ericsson SmartEdge/SM/SSR platforms to determine which SNMPv3 security features are safe to configure. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMPv3-USM-CAP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMPv3-USM-CAP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ericsson SmartEdge Multi-service Edge Routers (MSER)
  • Ericsson SM Metro Ethernet Service Transport platforms
  • Ericsson Smart Service Router (SSR) family

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/AGENT-CAPABILITIES declaration with no sample runtime objects and no data tables to poll; it is read once by management tooling to learn which SNMPv3 USM features a given SEOS release supports, not monitored on an ongoing basis.
