What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMPv3-VACM-CAP?
ERICSSON-ROUTER-IETF-SNMPv3-VACM-CAP is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module for Ericsson SEOS-based routers (SmartEdge, SM, SSR families) that documents the agent's implementation of the standard SNMP-VIEW-BASED-ACM-MIB (VACM, RFC 3415), which governs SNMPv3 access control views. It does not expose any device telemetry itself; instead it records which VACM tables and features the SEOS SNMP agent supports for controlling read/write/notify access on a per-user, per-view basis. It is therefore a security/management-plane conformance artifact rather than a hardware or software health indicator, though correct VACM behavior underpins reliable, secure polling of all other health and status MIBs on the box. It has a direct, explicit dependency on the IETF SNMP-VIEW-BASED-ACM-MIB standard. It is used by network management systems to verify SNMPv3 access-control capability before configuring users and views on Ericsson routers.
