What Is ERICSSON-ROUTER-ERP-MIB?
ERICSSON-ROUTER-ERP-MIB manages Ethernet Ring Protection Switching (ITU-T G.8032/ERPS) on Ericsson's SmartEdge/Smart Service Router carrier Ethernet routers. It exposes configuration and state for ring instances, including ring identity, node/port roles, and protection-switching status. It is central to monitoring the health of a resilient Ethernet ring topology, revealing whether a ring segment has failed over, is in a protected/unprotected state, or has recovered, which is effectively a software/protocol-state health indicator rather than physical hardware telemetry. It works alongside underlying interface and VLAN MIBs since ring ports map onto physical or logical Ethernet interfaces. It is deployed in metro/carrier Ethernet aggregation networks where sub-50ms ring recovery is required. Engineers can download the ERICSSON-ROUTER-ERP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
