Description: Dell EqualLogic appliance configuration MIB managing firmware-supported appliance types, DNS, and system configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is EQLAPPLIANCE-MIB?

EQLAPPLIANCE-MIB is a Dell EqualLogic proprietary MIB that manages the physical/logical appliance layer of an EqualLogic PS Series iSCSI storage array group. It exposes data about each appliance member in a storage group, including its type, descriptive name, management network address, firmware version, and administrative row status. This MIB is central to monitoring hardware and software status of the storage controller itself, surfacing per-appliance operational state, firmware/major version, and configuration health so operators can detect a degraded, offline, or misconfigured array member before it affects storage availability. It is a vendor extension that complements Dell's broader EqualLogic MIB family (including EQLISCSI-MIB) rather than any IETF standard. It is deployed in SAN environments where multiple EqualLogic PS Series arrays are grouped together and monitored centrally via SNMP for capacity and health management. Engineers can download the EQLAPPLIANCE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in EQLAPPLIANCE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Dell EqualLogic PS Series iSCSI storage array

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll eqlApplianceTable/eqlApplianceEntry rows indexed by eqlApplianceIndex to see each group member's eqlApplianceName, eqlApplianceType, and eqlApplianceState, alerting if eqlApplianceState reports anything other than a normal online value. eqlApplianceMgmtAddressType and eqlApplianceMgmtAddress let a monitoring system confirm the out-of-band management path to each controller is reachable. eqlApplianceMajorVersion is checked across all members to catch firmware version drift within a storage group, and eqlApplianceRowStatus reveals appliances mid-provisioning or being removed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • appliance operational state
  • appliance name and type
  • management IP address/port
  • firmware major version
  • appliance row/provisioning status
