Description: Enterasys Networks MIB for monitoring CPU, memory, and storage resource utilization with configurable threshold alerts.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ENTERASYS-RESOURCE-UTILIZATION-MIB?
This Enterasys enterprise MIB provides system resource utilization monitoring for Enterasys switches, tracking CPU load and per-process load. It exposes tables of CPU utilization per CPU instance and per-process utilization, including 5-second, 1-minute, and 5-minute load averages, along with configurable thresholds and associated SNMP notifications. This is squarely a hardware/software health monitoring MIB: it lets admins track CPU load trends (etsysResourceCpuLoad5sec/1min/5min) and identify runaway processes via etsysResourceProcessTable, catching performance degradation before it affects switching/routing operations. It appears to be a self-contained proprietary module without explicit dependency on other standard MIBs. It is typically deployed on Enterasys/Extreme switches for proactive capacity and performance monitoring, often paired with threshold-crossing traps. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-RESOURCE-UTILIZATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-RESOURCE-UTILIZATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Enterasys Networks switches
Monitoring Examples
Polling etsysResourceCpuTable for etsysResourceCpuLoad1min and etsysResourceCpuLoad5min across each etsysResourceCpuId reveals sustained high CPU utilization that could indicate a control-plane attack or software bug. Cross-referencing etsysResourceProcessTable, keyed by etsysResourceProcessID and etsysResourceProcessName, with etsysResourceProcessLoad5sec would identify exactly which process (e.g., a routing protocol daemon) is consuming excessive CPU, and the associated etsysResourceUtilizationNotifications trap would alert on threshold crossing without constant polling.
What Can Be Monitored
- CPU load (5-second/1-minute/5-minute averages)
- per-process CPU load
- process ID and name
- resource utilization threshold notifications

RFC description
Resource utilization and storage monitoring for Enterasys network switch platforms.
Start monitoring Enterasys Networks switch (legacy, later Extreme Networks) (CPU/process utilization) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
