Description: Extreme/Enterasys Networks MIB for managing custom application signature definitions used in application-aware QoS policies.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ENTERASYS-APPLICATION-SIGNATURE-MIB?

ENTERASYS-APPLICATION-SIGNATURE-MIB is a proprietary Enterasys/Extreme Networks MIB for defining and managing custom application signatures used to classify traffic for application-aware QoS policies. It exposes tables for signature groups, human-readable display names, and the underlying match patterns used to identify specific applications on the wire. Its monitoring role is configuration-oriented: it lets an administrator verify which custom application signatures and groups have been provisioned on the device, confirming that a newly added signature pattern is correctly registered before relying on it for QoS classification, rather than reporting hardware health or fault data. As a vendor-specific classification extension it has no dependency on a standard IETF MIB. It is deployed on Enterasys/Extreme Networks switches performing deep packet inspection-based application classification for QoS or policy enforcement. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-APPLICATION-SIGNATURE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-APPLICATION-SIGNATURE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Enterasys/Extreme Networks switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk etsysAppSignGroupTable/etsysAppSignGroupEntry to list configured signature groups by etsysAppSignGroupId and etsysAppSignGroupName, then check etsysAppSignDisplayNameTable to confirm the friendly names shown in policy tools match what was intended. etsysAppSignPatternTable/etsysAppSignPatternIndex would be inspected to verify the actual byte/pattern definitions behind a signature after a configuration push, catching a misconfigured or missing pattern that would cause a QoS policy to silently fail to classify the target application traffic. This MIB is entirely about signature definition/configuration rather than runtime traffic statistics.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured application signature groups
  • signature display names
  • signature match pattern definitions
  • signature/group provisioning status
