Description: Enterasys Networks MIB for enabling and monitoring jumbo Ethernet frame support on a per-port basis.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ENTERASYS-JUMBO-ETHERNET-FRAME-MIB?
ENTERASYS-JUMBO-ETHERNET-FRAME-MIB is an Enterasys Networks module for enabling and monitoring jumbo Ethernet frame support on a per-port basis on Enterasys switches. It exposes per-port configuration (enable flag, configured MTU) and status data (administrative versus operational status of jumbo frame support). This is directly useful for monitoring the software/hardware capability status of each port, since a mismatch between administrative and operational jumbo-frame status reveals a port where jumbo frames were enabled but the hardware or negotiated link could not actually support the configured MTU. It implicitly builds on the standard IF-MIB (RFC 2863) ifIndex-based port numbering used to identify interfaces. It is deployed on Enterasys/Extreme Networks enterprise switches carrying jumbo-frame traffic such as iSCSI storage or backup networks. Engineers can download the ENTERASYS-JUMBO-ETHERNET-FRAME-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ENTERASYS-JUMBO-ETHERNET-FRAME-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Enterasys/Extreme Networks enterprise Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
The etsysJumboEnetFrameTable/Entry, indexed per port, holds etsysJumboEnetFrameEnable, etsysJumboEnetFrameMtu, etsysJumboEnetFrameAdminStatus, and etsysJumboEnetFrameOperStatus. An administrator would poll AdminStatus against OperStatus per port to detect a port where jumbo frames were administratively enabled but the operational status still shows disabled, indicating a hardware limitation, module mismatch, or negotiation failure on that port.
What Can Be Monitored
- jumbo frame enable state per port
- configured jumbo frame MTU
- jumbo frame administrative status
- jumbo frame operational status

RFC description
Enterasys Networks (Extreme Networks) MIB providing management support for jumbo Ethernet frames larger than the standard 1500-byte IEEE 802.3 maximum.
Start monitoring Enterasys Networks switch (legacy, later Extreme Networks) (jumbo frame support) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
