Category: Vendor: Eltex
Description: An extension to the Eltex MES interfaces MIB that adds per-interface configuration and statistics objects on MES platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ELTEX-MES-eltInterfaces?
This Eltex private enterprise MIB extends interface management on Eltex MES switches beyond the standard IF-MIB, adding switch-media-specific configuration and real-time utilization statistics per physical interface. It exposes an interface configuration table including SFP transceiver operating mode, plus a separate utilization table tracking current inbound/outbound packet counts and rates averaged over a configurable time window for each interface. Its monitoring value is direct performance and hardware status tracking at the port level: administrators can watch real-time traffic rates and packet counts per port to spot congestion or a link running far above/below expected utilization, and check SFP operation mode to confirm optical transceiver configuration matches the installed module. It explicitly builds on and extends the standard IF-MIB (ifTable/ifIndex model), referencing ifIndex-style indexing for its own tables. It is deployed on Eltex MES switches wherever granular per-port traffic utilization and SFP status monitoring beyond basic IF-MIB counters is needed. Engineers can download the ELTEX-MES-eltInterfaces file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-eltInterfaces. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Eltex MES Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An admin walks eltSwIfTable/eltSwIfEntry by eltSwIfIndex to check eltSwIfSfpOperationMode, confirming an installed SFP module is running in the expected mode (e.g., auto-negotiation vs. forced speed). Polling eltSwIfUtilizationTable/eltSwIfUtilizationEntry for eltSwIfUtilizationCurrentInRate and eltSwIfUtilizationCurrentOutRate over the eltSwIfUtilizationAverageTime window reveals a port approaching link saturation, while eltSwIfUtilizationCurrentInPkts/CurrentOutPkts show packet-level throughput.
What Can Be Monitored
- SFP transceiver operation mode
- current inbound/outbound packet rate
- current inbound/outbound packet count
- utilization averaging interval
