Description: Eltex MES AAA MIB for managing authentication, authorization, and accounting configuration including RADIUS and TACACS+ settings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ELTEX-MES-AAA?
ELTEX-MES-AAA is a private enterprise MIB from Eltex for its MES series of managed Ethernet switches, focused on Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting (AAA) configuration. It exposes configuration-oriented data covering AAA method-list selection, RADIUS attribute handling (such as NAS-Identifier inclusion and formatting), and related TACACS+ settings used to control administrative access to the switch. As a configuration MIB it is used less for hardware health and more for verifying and auditing the security posture of the device -- confirming which authentication backend and attribute formats are active -- though changes here directly affect whether operators can log into and manage the switch. It relies on RADIUS and TACACS+ protocol conventions and complements standard IETF AAA-related MIB concepts. It is typically deployed in service-provider or enterprise access networks using Eltex MES switches where centralized authentication is required. Engineers can download the ELTEX-MES-AAA file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-AAA. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Eltex MES switches
Monitoring Examples
An operator can read eltAAAMethodListMode to confirm whether local, RADIUS, or TACACS+ authentication is the active method list on the switch, which explains why a login attempt succeeded or failed against a particular backend. eltRadiusAttrNasIdAccessEnable and eltRadiusAttrNasIdFormatString reveal whether the switch is including a NAS-Identifier attribute in RADIUS requests and in what format, which is useful when troubleshooting RADIUS server rejections tied to malformed NAS-ID strings. eltMesRadiusAttr groups these RADIUS attribute-related settings for the MES platform.
What Can Be Monitored
- active AAA method list mode
- RADIUS NAS-Identifier attribute inclusion
- RADIUS NAS-Identifier format string
- RADIUS attribute configuration
