Description: Eltex MES tuning MIB for adjusting performance parameters and hardware resource allocation on MES series switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-MES-TUNING-MIB?

ELTEX-MES-TUNING-MIB is a proprietary Eltex Networks MIB module for the MES series of Ethernet switches, used to fine-tune hardware resource allocation on the switch's forwarding ASIC. It exposes configuration-oriented data covering TCAM (ternary content-addressable memory) partitioning and selective QinQ VLAN tagging rule limits rather than live traffic counters. In monitoring terms it lets an administrator check the current and post-reset capacity of hardware rule tables, confirming whether the switch's TCAM has been provisioned for the expected number of ingress and egress QinQ rules and catching configuration drift that only takes effect after a reboot. It has no dependency on IETF standard MIBs, being a purely vendor-private enterprise extension. It is typically used by ISPs and network operators running Eltex MES access/aggregation switches who need to verify hardware table sizing for QinQ-based multi-tenant VLAN designs. Engineers can download the ELTEX-MES-TUNING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-TUNING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex MES series Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polling eltMesTcamTuning can confirm which TCAM profile is active on the switch, while eltMaxSelectiveQinqIngressRules and eltMaxSelectiveQinqEgressRules report the currently configured maximum number of selective QinQ tagging rules in each direction. Comparing these against eltMaxSelectiveQinqIngressRulesAfterReset and eltMaxSelectiveQinqEgressRulesAfterReset reveals whether a pending TCAM re-tuning will only take effect after the next reboot, a common cause of unexpected rule-provisioning failures if left untracked. This is a hardware capacity/configuration module rather than a live traffic-counter set.

What Can Be Monitored

  • TCAM tuning profile
  • max ingress QinQ rules
  • max egress QinQ rules
  • post-reset ingress rule limit
  • post-reset egress rule limit
