Description: Eltex MES traps MIB defining SNMP notifications for system events, link state changes, and fault conditions on MES switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ELTEX-MES-TRAPS-MIB?

ELTEX-MES-TRAPS-MIB is a vendor-specific Eltex Networks MIB defining SNMP notification (trap) types for MES-series switches, covering system events, link state changes, and fault conditions. Rather than exposing pollable data objects, this module's role is to define the structure of notifications an agent can send, so it is used for event-driven alerting rather than periodic status polling. It is central to hardware/software fault monitoring in that a well-configured trap MIB is how an NMS learns in near real time about link failures, hardware faults, or other abnormal system events without waiting for a polling cycle. Being a private notifications-only module, it presumably complements the standard SNMPv2-MIB/NOTIFICATION-TYPE conventions and other Eltex MES MIBs whose objects populate the trap varbinds. It is deployed on Eltex MES-series switches wherever an NMS is configured to receive SNMP trap notifications. Engineers can download the ELTEX-MES-TRAPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ELTEX-MES-TRAPS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Eltex MES-series Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

This module defines notification types rather than pollable data objects, and no sample object names were extracted from the source, so a polling scenario cannot be described; instead, an NMS would configure trap destinations to receive these notifications in real time, for example a link-state trap firing when a port transitions down, or a fault-condition trap firing on a hardware or system-level failure, alerting operators immediately rather than through periodic polling.

What Can Be Monitored

  • link state change events
  • system fault condition events
  • general system event notifications
